Highlights: Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Release Wave 1

Last week, Microsoft revealed their plans for the Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Release Wave 1.

In keeping with their core values, the release centres on delivering a dependable service, ensuring a simple administrative process, and supporting users to execute business processes more productively. Improvements and additional features can be seen across the board; from the Power Platform to administration, new and existing Dynamics users can expect investments focusing on getting to productive usage faster, and enhancing even further the reporting capabilities within Microsoft Excel.

Here are 3 key areas of development that we believe will have the biggest impact on our customers:

Shopify Connector

Adapt faster, work smarter, perform better.

A real highlight of this year’s wave 1 release is the introduction of the new Shopify connector. Enabling full integration between Shopify and Business Central, users benefit from synchronised order, stock and customer information for a better shopping experience for their customers and greater visibility across their processes – essential, now that maintaining item stock levels and pricing is more important than ever.

“The joint effort furthers the commitment of Dynamics 365 Business Central to connect data to help businesses adapt faster, work smarter, and perform better.”

Teams Integration

Greater capability, seamless collaboration, faster decision making.

With every release wave, Microsoft continues to improve the integration within Teams, Power Apps and Outlook. With useful features such as email attachments being saved directly in Business Central, and more data and features available on the actionable adaptive mini-cards, the Business Central app for Teams is becoming a crucial point of collaboration for businesses. Now, key decision-makers are able to work seamlessly with stakeholders without ever having to leave Microsoft Teams.

Reporting Enhancements

Reporting done your way.

Last but certainly not least, there are new capabilities for financial reporting:

  • Account schedules: The main tool within Business Central used for creating user-defined financial reports, this latest release sees new capabilities that make it easier for users to produce reports in their chosen layout.
  • Excel reporting layouts: By using the full palette of capabilities such as sliders, diagrams, charts and pivot tables, users can now create and edit report layouts within Excel. They can be edited and saved back again into Business central in the same way as Word and RDLC layouts.

“The presentation of financial reports is an important part of how people consume them. Reports must provide business insights in a way that enables people to easily recognize the report and quickly identify the important data.”
