Film software could soon be used for a Kurt Cobain biopic.

Film software may soon be in use for a new movie about the life of former Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

The movie is set to be directed by Oren Moverman - best known for the 2007 Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There - and will be produced by Cobain's widow Courtney Love.

It is believed the movie will be partially based on the book Heavier Than Heaven by Charles R Cross.

Moverman, who was nominated for an Oscar for his script on I'm Not There, told the Guardian: "It'll be raw and chaotic, which is what Cobain's life was like."

He added that most people know the singer took a lot of heroin, wrote Smells Like Teen Spirit, became the biggest rock star in the world and killed himself but suggested those are the least interesting things.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has recently ruled himself out of contention to play the rock star.
