Film software may have helped a British movie honoured in Los Angeles.


A British movie, which may have made use of film software, has been honoured at an awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister picked up the best international dramatic gong at Outfest, the 28th Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

James Kent's movie tells the true story of a landowner in England in the 19th century.

Ned Farr's A Marine Story picked up the best US dramatic feature award and stars winner of the best actress trophy Dreya Weber as a celebrated Marine officer whose career is at risk of being cut short due to a ban on gay people in the military.

Meanwhile, an audience award was given to Jacob Chase's The Four-Faced Liar, which was voted outstanding first US dramatic feature film.

It has recently been revealed that from September 2nd to 19th various venues around London will play host to more than 500 new independent movies as part of the Portobello Film Festival 2010.
