Steven Spielberg may soon be making use of film software in the UK.

Film software may soon be in use on Dartmoor, by Hollywood director Steven Spielberg.

The Daily Mail reports The Schlinder's List and Saving Private Ryan director plans to use the location as the backdrop for his latest movie, a big-budget adaptation of War Horse, a novel by a writer from Devon.

The book's author Michael Morpurgo, who used his home village of Iddesleigh, near Winkleigh, North Devon, as the location for part of the novel, said: "I know they are filming on Dartmoor and in London."

He said he was thrilled that Oscar winner Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy were working together on the production and hopes they create something "wondrous".

Richard Curtis is the screenwriter for the movie, which is due to be released next year.

The Bridport Film Society recently revealed young people from West Dorset aspiring to be the UK's next big name director can now apply for the first ever Future Filmmaker University Grant award.
