Young filmmakers from Sheffield may make use of production costing software on their latest project.

Production costing software may soon be in use for two young filmmakers from Sheffield.

Rob Speranza and Matt Taabu had their last release, Threads - starring former Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas - shown in the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival, reports the Sheffield Star.

The 11-minute film will also be screened at London's Soho Shorts Festival at the end of the month.

Now the duo are working on their next project entitled Brotherhood, the story of two Kurdish immigrants struggling to make their way in South Yorkshire.

"It costs around £9,000 to £10,000 to make a short film," Mr Speranza told the Newspaper.

He added: "We were commissioned by Screen Yorkshire, which was really good and for Brotherhood we have a budget of £15,000. It takes a long time to build up a reputation."

The UK Film Council's First Light initiative has recently encouraged more young people to make movies as it has awarded £30,000 to Scottish Kids Are Making Movies.
