Film software could have played a part in the creation of a trailer for Machete.

Film software may have played a part in the first trailer to be released for the new Robert Rodriguez movie Machete.

The director - famed for films including From Dusk Till Dawn - originally created a trailer for a fake movie of the same name for the 2007 double-bill feature Grindhouse.

However, it has now been made into a real movie starring - as is the case in the original fake trailer - Danny Trejo in the lead role as Machete Cortez.

Production costing software may also have had a part to play in recruiting the rest of the cast, including Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez.

Quentin Tarantino, who created the Deathproof part of the Grindhouse double movie, acted as a producer for the film.

Machete is set to be released in the US in September, but until then it seems likely Rodriguez will be focussing on Predators, which had recently been released.
