Budgeting software may prove useful for The Sweeney film.

Budgeting software may prove useful to help aid the production of the bigscreen version of British TV show The Sweeney.

Reports suggest that four of the UK's top leading men - Daniel Craig, Orlando Bloom, Ewan McGregor and Tom Hardy - are in contention for a part in the movie alongside Ray Winstone, who is still attached to the project.

The film would be a remake of the 1970s police drama starring Dennis Waterman and John Thaw.

A script for the movie has apparently been written by Nick Love - famed for his work on the Football Factory and The Firm - in collaboration with the writer of the original series Ian Kennedy Martin.

The film is still in unconfirmed development stages so it is not yet clear if or when it will be released.

It has recently been revealed that those putting film and TV software to good use will be honoured at the UK Screen Sound Awards 2010 - The Conch - with nominations open until today.
