Rob Lowe set for Miramax deal
Wed Jul 7 2010 16:42Film software may soon be in use for Rob Lowe and Miramax.
Rob Lowe may soon be making use of production costing software with his business partner Tom Barrack, according to reports.Website TMZ has suggested the pair are in talks to purchase Miramax Films - the company responsible for titles including Pulp Fiction, Swingers and The Piano.
It is expected that a deal would also incorporate TV, internet and movie deals to form "a multi-platform media company, similar to DreamWorks", which would see actor Lowe becoming a co-owner of the indie production company.
Disney put the former New York-based company up for sale earlier this year, with previous reports suggesting the Weinstein Brothers were set to acquire the company.
For its first 14 years the company was privately owned by its founders, Bob and Harvey Weinstein.
Miramax Films is at present an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company - the world's preeminent media and entertainment company in the field of family entertainment.
