Those using film software could benefit from new studio facilities in Cardiff.

Use of film software may soon be on the increase in Wales following the opening of new studio facilities in Cardiff.

NEP Cymru OB will provide a 7,500 sq ft studio with high-definition and standard-definition capabilities, plus make-up rooms, a production office and audience capacity of up to 300.

In addition to this will be another 400sq ft studio.

The group will take assets and staff from joint administrators Alistair Wardell and Nigel Morrison of Grant Thornton UK, after the liquidation of the Barcud Derwen Group earlier this month.

Tony Cahalane, managing director of NEP Cymru OB, said: "It is vitally important for us to remain as a facilities company that can continue to provide our key clients with the boutique service they are accustomed to."

It has recently been revealed that Tim Corrie has been selected as the new chairman of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta), the body that recognises the use of film software with the annual Bafta Awards.
