The BFI film festival has agreed a sponsorship deal with American Express.

Those currently making use of film software may be interested to hear that American Express has sealed a deal with the British Film Institute (BFI) to sponsor its annual movie festival.

American Express said the deal expands on its track record of lending support to the best in film and will assist the BFI's aim to make a wide choice of British and world cinema available in the UK.

Minister for culture, communication and creative industries Ed Vaizey stated the new partnership is a good example of how the arts can be supported by private businesses.

He added the multi-year commitment from American Express to the BFI "shows that there is a genuine appetite among world leading businesses to support film in the UK and that collaborating with top cultural organisations has serious commercial benefits".

The BFI is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary and, despite recently losing funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport for a new centre in London, it states the plans will continue.
