The EIFF has drawn to a close and given awards to British filmmakers.

Comedy movie Skeletons has been awarded the best new British feature gong at the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).

The 11-day event drew to a close at the weekend and paid tribute to the work of director Nick Whitfield.

Film software may have played a part in the creation of the movie - starring Jason Isaacs, Ed Gaughan and Andrew Buckley - which focuses on two on-call exorcists travelling across the country to clear skeletons from the closets of their clients.

The best performance in a British feature film award went to David Thewlis, for his role as Jim McCann in Mr Nice, based on the autobiography of the Welsh-born and Oxford-educated former drug runner Howard Marks.

Meanwhile, best international film went to the US-produced The Dry Land, directed by Ryan Piers Williams.

Animated adventure Toy Story 3 - starring the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen - was given its British premiere at the EIFF.
