TV software may play a part in Channel 4's attempts to replace Big Brother.

Big Brother attracted a nine per cent share of last night's (June 24th) TV audience, it has been reported.

The show, which aired on Channel 4 between 21:00 and 22:00 BST, attracted 2.5 million viewers, considerably down on its opening night when it was watched by five million people - in itself a nine year record low for the opening night.

Viewers of the Channel 4 TV show Big Brother may already be aware that this series of the programme will be its last and TV software may have an important role to play in the creation of shows to replace it.

ITV's crime drama Taggart attracted 2.7 million viewers last night, while the BBC's World Cup coverage of Japan versus Denmark gained 4.7 million viewers and a 22.2 per cent share of the overall audience.

The broadcaster may be looking forward to reporting healthy viewing figures this weekend as England take on Germany live on BBC One.
