Production costing software may have been a key part of the organisation of EIFF.

Production costing software may have played a part in the organisation of the 64th Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).

The festival kicked off on Wednesday (June 16th) and Sir Sean Connery, the 79-year-old former James Bond actor, was snapped on the red carpet at the event's opening gala.

During the festival a host of films from around the world will be aired and British film makers will be given the chance to showcase their talents to a wider audience.

Toy Story 3 will be premiered a full month before its release and is set to join previous box office hits Back To The Future, Pulp Fiction, ET: The Extra Terrestrial and The Hurt Locker, which were all aired at EIFF first.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport announced yesterday it is withdrawing funding from the proposed £166m National Film Centre, which is set to be based near the London Eye.
