Film software may have enabled the productions entered into one festival to run as smoothly as possible.

Film software may have proved vital for many of the productions entered into the Edinburgh Film Festival.

The event held between June 16th-27th is the 64th one and the 12 days will be packed with parties, premieres and special events.

Clash Music has revealed its top picks of the festival, with the Opening Night Gala's The Illusionist by Sylvain Chomet cited as one film to look out for.

"With seductive 50s period detail and breathtaking views of both wilderness and city, this promises to be one of the most gorgeous evocations of Scotland in cinema history," the website said.

Film software may have been central to many of the films recommended.

Another production tipped for success is Superhero Me.

Documentary filmmaker Steve Sale wants to become a superhero in a production that mirrors recent cinema release Kick Ass.

Past premieres at the festival include the Hurt Locker, Pulp Fiction, Back to the Future and ET: The Extra Terrestrial.ADNFCR-3018-ID-19830238-ADNFCR
