Rise in adoption of VoIP telephony systems forecast
Mon Mar 1 2010 17:50A rise in the adoption of VoIP systems has been predicted.
An increase in the adoption of VoIP telephony systems has been forecast, due to the cost savings they provide businesses with.According to market intelligence company In-Stat, recent financial difficulties have prevented some businesses from investing in communications solutions, even though they understand the long-term economic benefits these can bring.
However, convergence with unified communications capabilities and mobile integration were cited as "compelling" reasons why adoption of VoIP systems will increase, explained practice leader and senior analyst David Lemelin.
He also commented on why hosted IP PBX has surpassed IP telephony in terms of popularity.
"Principally, higher ARPU [Average Revenue Per User], as well as providing a superior business-grade flavour of VoIP, which is more acceptable to IT managers in terms of management, security and integration."
In-Stat recently predicted broadband IP telephone revenue would double by 2013, fuelled by single-user applications and a more mobile and distributed workforce.
