Businesses are increasingly considering the role of software-as-a-service when managing enterprise resource planning systems.

Increasing numbers of businesses are turning to software-as-a-service (SaaS) to manage their enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

So points out a ComputerWorld article, which notes that in an effort to keep costs under control and improve their provision of services, firms are looking to SaaS for their central ERP software commitments as well as their customer relationship management (CRM) systems and recruitment and payroll requirements.

The use of such systems has also been driven by "the lingering effects of a brutal recession" and constrained IT budgets.

But with organisations of all sizes harnessing such software, now may prove an ideal time for firms to consider their use of ERP software.

"We never used SaaS before, but we quickly learned the benefits are flexibility and the way you can develop things quickly," Ginnie Stouffer, vice-president of consulting at IDC Partners, states.

Meanwhile, Peter Ostrow noted in a recent CRM Buyer article that ERP and CRM is "becoming more closely intertwined" as firms look to improve efficiencies across all areas of their business in areas such as marketing, administration and finance.ADNFCR-3018-ID-19635390-ADNFCR
