Businesses 'looking to improve accounting software'

A new study shows a significant number of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are planning on upgrading accounting and finance software.Releasing its Enterprise and SMB Software report, Forrester Research reveals 21 per cent of SMB IT executives and technology decision-makers are looking to improve their accounting software over the course of this year.
This rises to 41 per cent among those enterprises questioned.
Meanwhile, 48 and 19 per cent of enterprises and SMBs respectively are planning to upgrade their customer relationship management applications, as more than a fifth of SMBs intend to implement CRM or information and knowledge management software.
Holger Kisker, senior analyst for Forrester, states that making efficiency improvements and cost cutting are currently businesses' main priorities.
Meanwhile, QuickBooks consultant Lynda Jencks recently told the Herald Tribune accounting software can help small firms to manage inventory and identify priority areas for their organisation to work on.
