The US Navy is to use enterprise resource planning (ERP) to improve its working practices.

The US Navy is looking to harness the powers of enterprise resource planning (ERP).

As part of a $71.8 million (£45.5 million) deal with Alion, the Program Executive Office for Ships, Acquisition Management (PEO Ships AM) Directorate will receive ERP support, as well as program management, business and financial planning solutions.

Such a move is designed to help military and government personnel at PEO Ships AM modernise working practices by improving their acquisition strategy, procurement and budgeting procedures.

The ERP software will be utilised across a number of ship classes, including the DDG-1000, DDG 51 and Littoral Combat Ship.

But the US Navy is not alone when it comes to taking advantage of accounting software.

Implementing the final stage of a three-year fully-integrated ERP project earlier this month, the Home Office claimed the system has helped it to pay suppliers faster and improve productivity.ADNFCR-3018-ID-19621414-ADNFCR
