Film companies looking to get to grips with production costing as they work on their latest feature may want to consider the action taken by the producers of one Warners Bros film to lower their expenses. An LA Times article notes that the makers of romantic comedy Valentine's Day were keen to be as kind to the environment as possible when producing the film, which stars Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel.
While sustainable practices were reported to help the film reduce its environmental impact, those looking at cash flow management software may also want to note its role in reducing expenditure.
The publication pointed out that - with the exception of solar panels - the sustainable practices used did not increase the film's overall budget and in fact reduced costs.
And as each department was asked to consider ways to reduce costs, for example using set lighting generators powered by biodiesel fuel, tracking such budgeting software may be advisable.
Meanwhile, Hat Trick Productions revealed that the use of Creative Computing Solutions' Just-PRODUCE software helped it to bring together its various production costing processes into a single system, helping it to drive efficiencies and save money.
