Firm takes 'proactive approach' to stock management

Making food distribution software changes appears to have paid off for one firm.

Town & Country Fine Foods (TCFF) reports that while its Unix-based business administration system was at first effective, as the company grew it became restrictive and hampered its customer service.

Peter Hearne, company accountant at TCFF, points out that prior to making the software changes the firm was "missing out on new sales opportunities" as its technology could not keep up with customer demand.

However, with Creative Computing Solutions integrating Unix-based business administration system, the company has since been able to take a more proactive approach to stock management, suggesting items for customers to order before they realise they need more stock.

"We needed better customer service, improved flexibility and lower costs - we started to see solid evidence of those happening within six months," he claiming, adding that three years later the software is not only helping the firm to expand but ensure that it can continue to offer "exceptional service".
