The integration of enterprise resource planning software looks set to generate significant savings for one water company.

Severn Trent has revealed the first stage of implementing its new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has been completed.

In having such software in place, the organisation claims that it will be able to track productivity and operational process efficiencies in a more effective manner, as well as establishing tools that staff across the company can use.

Such moves have also helped it to assess its operations in areas such as finance, human resources and procurement.

Tony Wray, chief executive of the utilities firm, claims that the project was "probably the biggest change initiative we have undergone in our recent history".

However, doing so could prove to be worthwhile as the firm pointed out last November that the project - and other efficiency improvements - means that it is "on track" to achieve annual cost savings of some £22.2 million.

Indeed, he states the firm will now have "greater intelligence and control" over its processes.

Such comments come as the Abu Dhabi Education Council recently revealed that the second stage of its ERP project had been complete, with the details of more than 14,000 teaching and administrative staff transferred from the Ministry of Education's payroll system to its own database.ADNFCR-3018-ID-19585202-ADNFCR
